
Five top-selling spirit brands in restaurants come from Stock Plzeň

Despite the fact that virtually all important world spirit producers
entered the Czech Republic with their global brands after 1989, Czech
customers remain loyal primarily to the established domestic products.
In terms of the volume of spirit sales, transnational companies have
not managed to get to the top either in retail sales, or in the
gastronomy segment.
It is also reflected in the latest data from the Dataservis agency,
which conducts surveys on spirit sales in the Czech gastronomy sector
on a long term basis. During its regular monitoring, Dataservis visited
over 2,400 catering facilities across the Czech Republic. The top five
positions of the best selling spirits are held exclusively by brands of
the largest Czech producer Stock Plze? - Božkov, coming in the order:
Božkov Tuzemský (with a 9.36% market share in the gastronomy sector),
Fernet Stock (7.53%), Fernet Stock Citrus (6.23%), Peprmint Božkov
(4.14%) and Božkov Vodka (3.96%). Stock Plze? has got another two
brands in the TOP 10; Amundsen Vodka at the 9th place and Božkov
Griotte at the 10th. Holding 6th position in sales, Finlandia Vodka is
the only foreign brand that managed to get in the TOP 10 in the
gastronomy sector along with the Czech spirits.
"It is becoming clear that pessimists who predicted decline or even the
end of Czech brands, have been wrong in their estimates. Not only
products of Stock Plze?, but other brands of Czech domestic producers
too, have recorded very good results over the recent years" Martin
Petrášek, Managing Director of Stock Plze?, commented on the survey.
He believes the established domestic brands benefit not only from
favourable price and quality, but also from marketing activities, which
play a more and more important role. "Media advertising, promo
activities in restaurants and shops, as well as the use of the
Internet, are today an indispensable part of sales promotion. And even
in this respect, most of the important domestic spirit brands can
certainly match the transnational giants," Petrášek added.
Thanks to the success in sales, Stock Plze? remains an undisputed
leader on the Czech spirits market, with the total market share
approximately 36%, and its brands dominating all four key segments of
the market: bitter and herbal spirits (Fernet Stock, Fernet Stock
Citrus, Fernet Stock 8000, and Magister), domestic rums (Božkov
Tuzemský), vodkas (Vodka Amundsen, Božkov Vodka), as well as liqueurs
(Božkov Peprmint, Božkov Griotte).
